small update (while we´re doing the next big thing..)

Thursday, May 3, 2007

While we are working with the next big release (that will be quite different than what you´ve seen so far....) we give you another small update of Jargong. 0.5.3 is now available for download.

Here are some of the new features:

Twitter:
  • A lot of small user interface updates (It´s now easier to see if an update is successful or not / a refresh is going on etc).
  • Browse into a users timeline from another timeline.
  • Send and receive direct messages.
  • Background image and background color from a timeline is now displayed.

Instant Messaging:
  • Scrolls username and personal message if it´s too long to fit the display.

Important: To use all the new features please reauthorize your Twitter account with Jargong by logging in with your Jargong account on www.jargong.com and authorize Twitter again.

And as always, please delete any version of Jargong on your phone before installing this update.

Again a small update (more for you Twitter-happy-people)

Twitter everywhere

Thursday, March 15, 2007

Twitter is on everybody´s mind this week. We released a small update (0.5.1) that includes more Twitter features. Now you can keep up to date with "What You And Your Friends Are Doing" right from the main menu in Jargong. Nice and simple, the Twitter way.

Oh, if you haven´t noticed it. 0.5.0 was released a couple of days ago with Flickr, Twitter, Google Reader, Instant Messaging .. even the website is brand new. Maybe we´ll send you a newsletter and tell you more about it some day soon..

Note this!

Monday, March 5, 2007

We love the notes feature in Flickr. This is how it looks like in Jargong. The yellow note in the top right corner tells you when there are notes available for a photo. Push "Show notes" in the menu and the notes will appear. Jump between notes with <, > (or 4, 6) keys.

Notes with yellow background are notes written by the photo author and notes with green background are notes written by anyone else, as always..

Only 28 days in February? Damn..

Thursday, March 1, 2007

Right now we´re experiencing some problems connecting to the MSN network. We´re sorry about that and hope we can fix it ASAP.

About the new version: We´ll hopefully add the last things today and then we need a couple of days to test everything and update the website, but we´re getting there..

An explanation

Tuesday, February 20, 2007

I think it´s time for an explanation why you haven´t heard anything from us in a couple of weeks. We haven´t gone on vacation as some of you suggested in your emails.. ;-).

The main thing with the new version (besides all new cool features you suggested of course) was to make Jargong work for the people that had problems with the first version. We spent a lot of time with rewriting the networking code and everything was working great. Then this (what we thought) small bug came up just before release..
Well, to make a long story short.. after a week we decided to make the second beta version to be a private beta only for us and our testers and continued to work on the features planned for the version after that... And that´s where we are today.
We apologize for the inconvenience. We hope (no more promises..) to have this version out for you before the end of February.

So ... Again, what can you expect from the upcoming version? Well, we already revealed some new Instant Messaging features, Nokia support and that we implemented Twitter and Flickr support (but hey, that´s still a secret only for our bloggreaders..).
So what´s left? Well, I guess you have seen the "My channels" thing in the main menu.. expect some news in there....

Thanks for your understanding and patience.

Twitter and Jaiku

Tuesday, January 23, 2007

Have you guys discovered Twitter and Jaiku yet? If not check them out, they are pretty cool services.
The idea is to share what you´re doing right now, how you´re feeling or just any thought you might have, with your friends simply by answering the question: "What you are doing?".
You can update this "status message of your life" in many ways: on the web, by sending a SMS or by using a mobile application.
Your friends can then keep track of what you´re doing by receiving a SMS everytime you update your status message or just by surfing into the service on the web. They can even connect the service to their favorite Instant Messenger network and get status message updates from there.

At first it seems like a strange idea, why would I need that? But when you start using it it´s quite addictive to follow what your friends are doing. Both services seem to get a lot of users and hype right now.

We like the idea so we´ll add support for both services in Jargong, starting with Twitter in the upcoming version.
If you connect your Twitter account to Jargong then everytime you login to Jargong the client will automatically fetch your status message from Twitter and set it as your IM status message and then each time you update your IM status message in Jargong your status message at Twitter will automatically be updated. Pretty nice and simple, right?

So what´s up with the upcoming version? Well we´re getting there, soon. It took some more time than expected to add all the features that we wanted in this version. But we think it´ll be quite good..

We can reveal for our blog readers that we implemented Flickr support. Yes, now you can view your online photos on your mobile phone anytime, anywhere. You can even make a Flickr search and comment on other peoples photos as you can see on the screenshots below. We hope you´ll like it!
